I had a great lunch last week in the Merrion Hotel’s Cellar Restaurant with Laurenz (Lenz) Moser, the charming Austrian behind the Laurenz V Grüner Veltliner wine series.

But let’s get it in order, the vine, the man and the wines. 

After visiting the Laurenz V. vineyards and tasting Singing, Friendly and Charming Grüner Veltliners on the Saturday, our friends from Bibendum Wines took a stroll or “Stadtbummel” through Vienna’s city centre on the second day of their trip. It was here that Richard (pictured left) embarked on his hunt for white wine lovers – friends of Gruner.

“…..what a glorious feeling, I’m happy again……”. All in good spirits enjoying a glass of the new Laurenz V. Charming Grüner Veltliner vintage 2007 directly in the Kamptal vineyards. We were proud to host some of the sales team from Bibendum Wines of London, our importers of Laurenz V in Great Britain, for a weekend in November.
